Daniel D. Palmer Quotes

A collection of quotes by Daniel D. Palmer.

Daniel D. Palmer was a Canadian-born American healer and the founder of chiropractic, a form of alternative medicine that focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system. He was born on March 7, 1845, in Port Perry, Ontario, Canada.

Palmer developed an interest in healing practices early in his life. He immersed himself in studying various healing modalities, including magnetic healing, osteopathy, and spiritualism. In 1895, while living in Davenport, Iowa, he made a groundbreaking discovery that would lay the foundation for chiropractic. Through a spinal adjustment, Palmer claimed to have restored the hearing of a janitor named Harvey Lillard who had lost it 17 years prior.

Following this success, Palmer developed a system of manual manipulations, focusing on the alignment of the spine and its effects on the nervous system. He named this new practice "chiropractic," derived from the Greek words "cheir" (meaning hand) and "praxis" (meaning practice).

Palmer founded the Palmer School of Chiropractic in 1897 and became one of the leading figures in the early chiropractic movement. He actively promoted and advanced the profession, publishing numerous articles and books on chiropractic theory and practice.

Daniel D. Palmer remained dedicated to chiropractic until his death on October 20, 1913, in Los Angeles, California. His contributions to the field continue to shape and influence chiropractic care worldwide.
