David M. Brown, also known as David McDowell Brown, was an American astronaut and naval aviator. He was born on April 16, 1956, in Arlington, Virginia. Brown received his medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School and completed his residency in emergency medicine. In 1996, he joined NASA and was selected as a mission specialist. Tragically, he lost his life on February 1, 2003, during the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster.
