Gavin MacLeod (February 28, 1931 - present) is an American actor best known for his role as Captain Merrill Stubing in the popular television series "The Love Boat" (1977-1986). Born as Allan George See in Mount Kisco, New York, MacLeod began his career in entertainment as a radio disc jockey and later moved on to acting.

Throughout the 1960s and 1970s, MacLeod appeared in numerous television shows, including "The Dick Van Dyke Show," "The Man from U.N.C.L.E.," and "Hogan's Heroes." However, his breakthrough came in 1972 when he was cast as Murray Slaughter, the news writer, in "The Mary Tyler Moore Show," for which he received critical acclaim.
