Luis Fortuño is a Puerto Rican politician who served as the 10th Governor of Puerto Rico from 2009 to 2013. Born on October 31, 1960, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, he received his education from Georgetown University and the University of Virginia. Prior to becoming governor, Fortuño served as Puerto Rico's Resident Commissioner in the United States House of Representatives from 2005 to 2008. He is a member of the New Progressive Party and has been actively involved in advocating for Puerto Rico's statehood.
