Manute Bol Quotes

A collection of quotes by Manute Bol.

Manute Bol was a Sudanese-born American professional basketball player who was known for his exceptional height and shot-blocking abilities. He was born on October 16, 1962, in Gogrial, Sudan (now South Sudan). Bol had an extraordinary height of 7 feet 7 inches (2.31 meters) which made him one of the tallest players in NBA history.

Bol started his basketball career in Sudan and then moved to the United States where he played college basketball at the University of Bridgeport. In 1985, he entered the NBA as a second-round draft pick by the Washington Bullets (now Washington Wizards). Throughout his NBA career, Bol played for several teams including the Golden State Warriors, Philadelphia 76ers, and Miami Heat.

Bol became well-known for his shot-blocking prowess, averaging an impressive 3.34 blocks per game over his career. His long arms and shot-blocking abilities earned him wide recognition as one of the top defenders in the league, despite limited offensive skills.

Beyond basketball, Bol was also known for his philanthropic work, particularly in his efforts to help the people of Sudan. He was dedicated to bringing attention to the problems faced by his war-torn home country and actively raised funds and support for humanitarian causes.

Sadly, Manute Bol passed away on June 19, 2010, at the age of 47 due to complications from a rare skin disease and a variety of other ailments. Nevertheless, his legacy as an exceptional shot-blocker, philanthropist, and advocate for the people of Sudan continues to resonate in both the NBA and beyond.
