Jean-Baptiste Poquelin, known by his stage name MoliÃ¨re, was a French playwright and actor who existed during the 17th century. Born in Paris on January 15, 1622, he is considered one of the greatest names in Western literature. MoliÃ¨re's father held a notable position as the official furniture supplier to the King. Despite this, MoliÃ¨re chose to pursue a career in the theater, much to his family's initial disapproval.

In 1643, MoliÃ¨re formed his own theatrical company, known as "La Troupe de Monsieur," and began producing and acting in his plays. He achieved considerable success with his comedic works, which satirized the privileged classes and the religious hypocrites of his time. Some of his most renowned plays include "Tartuffe," "The Misanthrope," and "The School for Wives."

However, MoliÃ¨re faced opposition and censorship due to the controversial and critical nature of his plays. Despite the constraints, he continued to write and perform, gaining popularity and support from the public. MoliÃ¨re's talent for blending sharp wit, social critique, and humorous situations made him a beloved figure in French theater.

Sadly, MoliÃ¨re's life was cut short when he collapsed on stage during a performance of his last play, "The Imaginary Invalid," in 1673. Refusing to interrupt the show, he completed his performance before succumbing to his illness a few hours later. MoliÃ¨re's legacy lives on through his enduring works, which remain celebrated for their comedic brilliance and profound insights into human nature.
