Richard Rumbold Quotes

A collection of quotes by Richard Rumbold.

Richard Rumbold was a 17th-century English soldier and political activist. Born in 1622, he fought in the English Civil War and later became involved in the Rye House Plot, a failed assassination attempt against King Charles II in 1683. Rumbold was captured, tried for treason, and executed by hanging in June 1685. His final words, "I am sure there was no man born marked of God above another, for none comes into the world with a saddle on his back, neither any booted and spurred to ride him," became famous and symbolized his belief in equality and resistance against tyranny.
