Théodore Guérin (1798-1856) was a French Roman Catholic nun and educator. Born in France, she joined the Sisters of Providence of Ruillé-sur-Loir in 1823 and became known for her dedication to teaching and caring for the poor. In 1840, she was sent to the United States to establish a new congregation of the Sisters of Providence in Indiana. Despite facing numerous challenges, Guérin successfully founded Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College and established a strong presence for the Sisters of Providence in the region. She was beatified by Pope John Paul II in 1998 and is recognized as a pioneer in Catholic education in the United States.
