William Moulton Marston Quotes

A collection of quotes by William Moulton Marston.

William Moulton Marston (May 9, 1893 – May 2, 1947) was an American psychologist, self-help author, and lawyer. Marston was born in Cliftondale, Massachusetts and graduated from Harvard University in 1915. He later obtained his law degree in 1918 and went on to pursue a career as a lawyer. However, his true passion lay in psychology, which led him to earn a PhD in psychology from Harvard in 1921.

Marston is best known today for creating the comic book character Wonder Woman. In the early 1940s, Marston invented the polygraph, or lie detector test, and his experiences with this device inspired the creation of an empowered female superhero. Wonder Woman, with her lasso of truth and message of female empowerment, quickly became an iconic figure in the comic book world.

Throughout his career, Marston also published several self-help books, focused on topics such as emotions, relationships, and individual development. His most notable work in this area is "Emotions of Normal People," published in 1928, in which he introduced the DISC theory – a model examining behaviors and associated emotions.

Marston's life was cut short when he passed away at the age of 53. Despite his relatively brief career, his contributions to psychology, technology, and popular culture continue to have a lasting impact.
