A.E. Hotchner, born on June 28, 1920, was an American writer, editor, and playwright. He was best known for his close friendship and collaboration with American literary icon Ernest Hemingway. Hotchner was born in St. Louis, Missouri, and attended Washington University.
During World War II, Hotchner served in the U.S. Army Air Forces and flew a B-25 bomber in the Mediterranean Theater. After the war, he moved to New York City, where he pursued a career in publishing.
