Bainbridge Colby (1869–1950) was an American lawyer and politician. Born in St. Louis, Missouri, Colby practiced law before becoming involved in progressive politics. He served as legal counsel for the National Progressive Republican League and played a major role in helping to defeat President William H. Taft at the 1912 Republican National Convention. Colby supported women's suffrage and later became a founding member of the National Woman's Party. In 1920, he was appointed as the United States Secretary of State under President Woodrow Wilson and played a significant role in negotiating the peace treaties following World War I.
