Bela Kun (1886-1938) was a Hungarian politician and a key leader of the Hungarian Soviet Republic in 1919. Born in Transylvania, then part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, he joined the Social Democratic Party and later became one of the founders of the Hungarian Communist Party. Kun's government aimed to establish a socialist state in Hungary but faced opposition from both conservative and liberal forces. However, his rule was short-lived, and after the collapse of the Hungarian Soviet Republic, Kun went into exile in the Soviet Union. He later became a prominent Comintern functionary but was executed during Stalin's Great Purge.
