Buddy DeSylva (1895-1950) was an American songwriter and film producer. Born George Gard "Buddy" DeSylva, he achieved success as a lyricist during the early 20th century and collaborated with several prominent composers, including George Gershwin and Jerome Kern. He co-founded publishing company DeSylva, Brown, and Henderson, which produced numerous popular songs. DeSylva later transitioned into the film industry and helped establish Paramount Pictures. He served as the president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and produced several successful films, including "The Little Colonel" (1935) and "The Stork Club" (1945).
