C. H. (Charles Haddon) Spurgeon was a prominent English preacher and influential figure in the 19th-century Christian community. Born on June 19, 1834, in Kelvedon, Essex, England, he grew up in a devout Christian family. At the age of 15, Spurgeon discovered his calling while attending a Methodist chapel, and soon after, he became a Baptist and devoted himself to preaching.

Spurgeon's talent and fervor quickly gained recognition, and at the age of 19, he was appointed as the pastor of Waterbeach Baptist Chapel. His popular sermons attracted large crowds, and in 1854, he was called to the historic New Park Street Chapel in London.
