He played as a defensive tackle in the National Football League (NFL) during the 1950s and 1960s. Lipscomb was known for his incredible size and strength, standing at 6 feet 6 inches tall and weighing over 300 pounds. He played for the Baltimore Colts and the Pittsburgh Steelers, earning four Pro Bowl selections and being part of the Colts' NFL Championship victory in 1958.
