Leonard Boswell (1934 – 2018) was an American politician who served as a member of the United States House of Representatives from 1997 to 2013. Boswell was born and raised in Iowa and had a strong background in farming and the military.

After graduating from college, Boswell joined the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War, earning a Distinguished Flying Cross for his bravery as a helicopter pilot. Following his military service, Boswell returned to Iowa and became a farmer.

In 1984, Boswell entered politics and was elected to the Iowa Senate. He served in the state senate for over a decade before being elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1996. Boswell represented Iowa's third congressional district for seven terms before being redistricted into Iowa's second congressional district, where he served for two terms until his retirement in 2013.
