Nathan Hale (1755–1776) was an American soldier and spy during the American Revolutionary War. Born in Connecticut, Hale graduated from Yale University and joined the Continental Army in 1775. In 1776, he volunteered to gather intelligence behind British lines in New York City. Unfortunately, Hale was captured by the British and hanged without trial at the age of 21.
