Orson F. Whitney was an American poet, author, and religious leader. Born on July 1, 1855, in Salt Lake City, Utah, he grew up in a prominent Mormon family. Whitney served as a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1906 until his death in 1931. He is known for his contributions to Mormon literature, including the epic poem "Elias: An Epic of the Ages." Whitney's writings explore religious themes and the history of his faith.
