Patrick Rafter is an Australian former professional tennis player who was born on December 28, 1972, in Mount Isa, Queensland. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest tennis players from Australia and had a successful career in both singles and doubles.

Rafter turned professional in 1991 and achieved his breakthrough in 1997 when he reached the final of the Australian Open, eventually losing to Pete Sampras. The following year, he reached the finals of Wimbledon for the first time but fell short to Sampras again.
