Patrick Roy is a former professional ice hockey goaltender and coach, widely regarded as one of the greatest in NHL history. Born on October 5, 1965, in Quebec, Canada, Roy played 19 seasons in the NHL, primarily for the Montreal Canadiens and the Colorado Avalanche. His exceptional skills and intense competitiveness led to numerous achievements, including four Stanley Cup championships and three Conn Smythe Trophies as the playoffs' most valuable player. Roy later transitioned into coaching and guided both the Quebec Remparts and the Avalanche to championships. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2006.
