St.Francis Xavier Quotes
A collection of quotes by St.Francis Xavier.
St. Francis Xavier was a Spanish missionary and one of the founding members of the Society of Jesus, also known as the Jesuits. He was born on April 7, 1506, in the Kingdom of Navarre, which is now part of Spain. Known for his strong faith and commitment to spreading Christianity, Xavier dedicated his life to missionary work.
In 1534, he met St. Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of the Jesuits, and was deeply inspired by his teachings. Together with Ignatius and five others, Xavier co-founded the Society of Jesus in 1540. As a part of this order, he traveled extensively, mainly to Portuguese colonies in Asia, including territories in India, Indonesia, Japan, and China.
St. Francis Xavier's mission was to convert non-Christians to Catholicism and share his faith. He faced numerous challenges, language barriers, and even dangerous conditions during his journeys. Despite these obstacles, he made great strides in spreading Christianity. Besides his evangelizing work, Xavier also established schools and hospitals in various regions to aid the locals.
His efforts in the missionary field made him one of the most influential Christian missionaries in history. Unfortunately, Xavier passed away at the age of 46 on December 3, 1552, near the Chinese coast while waiting for permission to enter mainland China. He was canonized as a saint by the Catholic Church in 1622 and is recognized as the patron saint of missionaries. St. Francis Xavier's legacy continues to inspire many in their religious pursuits.
