Tan Malaka (1897-1949) was an Indonesian nationalist and Marxist revolutionary. Born in West Sumatra, he played a significant role in the struggle for Indonesian independence from Dutch colonial rule. He joined the Indonesian National Party (PNI) and later founded the Marxist-oriented Partai Murba. Tan Malaka was known for his radical ideas and active participation in anti-colonial movements. He was imprisoned multiple times and lived in exile for much of his life. His writings, including "Madilog" and "Dari Pendjara ke Pendjara" (From Jail to Jail), continue to inspire generations of Indonesian activists.
