Toshihiko Fukui is a Japanese economist and former governor of the Bank of Japan (BOJ). Born on October 7, 1935, in Gunma Prefecture, Japan, Fukui obtained a degree in economics from the University of Tokyo in 1958. He then pursued further studies at the University of California, Berkeley, from where he earned his master's degree in economics in 1964.
