Adelbert Von Chamisso was a German poet and botanist, born on January 30, 1781, in Ante, France. He was originally named Louis Charles Adelaide de Chamissot, but later adopted the name Adelbert von Chamisso after becoming a naturalized Prussian citizen. Chamisso's father, a French nobleman, emigrated to Prussia during the French Revolution.

Chamisso is best known for his poetry, particularly his ballads inspired by German Romanticism. His most famous work, "Peter Schlemihl's Miraculous Story," published in 1814, gained significant popularity for its exploration of the protagonist's loss of his shadow, symbolizing his social identity.

Apart from his literary contributions, Chamisso was also an accomplished botanist.
