Eddie Robinson (1919-2007) was an American college football coach widely regarded as one of the greatest in the sport's history. Born in Jackson, Louisiana, Robinson discovered his passion for football while attending McKinley High School. He received an athletic scholarship to attend Leland College and played quarterback for the school's football team. After graduating, he served as a high school coach before joining Grambling State College (now Grambling State University) in 1941.
Robinson became the head coach of the Grambling Tigers in 1941, and under his leadership, the team achieved unprecedented success.
