Eric Liddell Quotes
A collection of quotes by Eric Liddell.
Eric Liddell (1902-1945) was a Scottish Olympic champion and Christian missionary. He gained international fame after winning gold in the men's 400-meter race at the 1924 Summer Olympics in Paris. Despite the immense pressure to compete on a Sunday, Liddell stood by his religious beliefs and withdrew from his favored 100-meter race, ultimately winning in the 400-meter as a result. Following his athletic career, Liddell became a missionary in China, devoting his life to serving others. Tragically, he died in a Japanese internment camp during World War II. Liddell's life continues to inspire generations, portrayed in the film "Chariots of Fire."
