Gary Mark Gilmore Quotes
A collection of quotes by Gary Mark Gilmore.
Gary Mark Gilmore (1940–1977) was an American criminal and the first person to be executed in the United States after the reinstatement of the death penalty in 1977. Born in Texas, Gilmore had a tumultuous life, marked by violence and crime. He gained infamy for committing two senseless murders in Utah in 1976. Despite public attention and legal battles claiming he was mentally unfit, Gilmore waived his appeals and insisted on being executed, earning him the nickname "The Man in the Hat." His case became a subject of literary works, including Norman Mailer's Pulitzer Prize-winning book "The Executioner's Song."
