Girolamo Savonarola Quotes
A collection of quotes by Girolamo Savonarola.
Girolamo Savonarola (1452-1498) was an Italian Dominican friar, preacher, and religious reformer during the Renaissance. Born in Ferrara, he later moved to Florence, where he gained fame for his fiery sermons proclaiming against corruption, materialism, and secularism in society. Savonarola's influence grew, and he led a strict theocratic government known as the "Republic of Florence" from 1494 to 1498. However, his controversial actions, including the infamous Bonfire of the Vanities, angered the ruling elite, leading to his downfall. He was eventually excommunicated, condemned for heresy, and executed in Florence.
