Hakeem Olajuwon, born on January 21, 1963, is a retired Nigerian-American professional basketball player. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest centers in the history of the National Basketball Association (NBA).
Olajuwon grew up in Nigeria and discovered basketball at a young age. After showcasing remarkable talent, he earned a scholarship to play for the University of Houston, where he excelled as a collegiate player. In 1984, he decided to forego his senior year and entered the NBA Draft, eventually becoming the first overall pick selected by the Houston Rockets.
During his 18-year NBA career, Olajuwon played primarily for the Houston Rockets, but also had a brief stint with the Toronto Raptors.
