Horace Smith (1779-1849) was an English poet and novelist. He was born in London and gained recognition for his collaboration with his brother James Smith on a series of satirical works, including the famous "Rejected Addresses" (1812). Horace also wrote poetry and novels independently, with his most notable work being "Brambletye House" (1826), a historical novel set in the 17th century. He was a member of the literary circle known as the "Cockney School" and had a successful career as a writer during the early 19th century.
