James Norman Hall (1887-1951) was an American author best known for his co-authorship of the highly acclaimed South Seas adventure novels, the Bounty Trilogy. Born on October 22, 1887, in Colfax, Iowa, Hall's early years were marked by his adventurous nature and love for literature. He attended Grinnell College and then the University of Iowa, where he pursued his passion for writing.
In 1916, Hall served as a volunteer ambulance driver for the French army during World War I. It was during this time that he met his literary collaborator, Charles Nordhoff.
