Joseph Priestley (1733-1804) was a British scientist, theologian, and political theorist who made significant contributions to various fields. Born in Yorkshire, England, Priestley was the eldest of six children. Encouraged by his parents to pursue education, he attended Daventry Academy and became a dissenting minister.

However, Priestley soon developed a passion for scientific inquiry and conducted groundbreaking experiments in chemistry and physics.
