Luigi Russolo (1885-1947) was an Italian artist, composer, and inventor, best known for his pioneering work in the field of sound art. Born in Portogruaro, Italy, Russolo grew up in a family of musicians and painters, which greatly influenced his artistic pursuits.

In 1913, Russolo published his groundbreaking manifesto titled "The Art of Noises," in which he advocated for the inclusion of noise and machine sounds in music, departing from conventional notions of harmony and melody.
