A collection of quotes by Richard Wurmbrand.
Richard Wurmbrand (1909-2001) was a Romanian Christian minister and human rights activist. Born in Bucharest, Romania, he grew up in a Jewish family but later converted to Christianity. Wurmbrand was ordained as an underground pastor where he served in churches that were facing persecution under the Communist regime of Nicolae Ceaușescu.
In 1945, Wurmbrand, along with his wife, Sabina, established the "Voice of the Martyrs" organization, which aimed to provide support and aid to persecuted Christians across the globe. However, their activities were soon discovered, and in 1948, Wurmbrand was arrested by the Romanian secret police, the Securitate.
For 14 years, Wurmbrand endured immense torture and imprisonment, yet he never lost faith in his Christian beliefs. Despite the physical and mental suffering, he continued to spread God's message of love and forgiveness, even towards his captors. In 1956, he was released due to diplomatic negotiations, and he immediately continued his advocacy for religious freedom.
After his release, Wurmbrand dedicated his life to raising awareness about the plight of persecuted Christians. He wrote numerous books, including "Tortured for Christ," which detailed his experiences in prison, and campaigned tirelessly for religious freedom and human rights. His significant contribution to promoting the freedom of conscience and religious liberty earned him international recognition.
Richard Wurmbrand's unwavering commitment to his faith and his tireless efforts to help others shine as a testament to his remarkable character and unyielding spirit.
