Robert Emmet Quotes

A collection of quotes by Robert Emmet.

Robert Emmet (1778-1803) was an Irish nationalist and revolutionary leader. Born in Dublin, he became involved in the United Irishmen, a secret society dedicated to Irish independence. In 1803, Emmet led a failed rebellion against British rule in Ireland, known as the Emmet Rebellion. Despite the unsuccessful uprising, his passionate speech at his trial ("Let no man write my epitaph") became legendary, inspiring future generations of Irish nationalists. Emmet was subsequently executed at the age of 25, but his fervent pursuit of Irish independence continues to be remembered and celebrated.
