Robert S. Hillyer (1895-1961) was an American poet and educator. He was born in East Orange, New Jersey, and graduated from Harvard University. Hillyer went on to teach English at the University of Wisconsin and later became a professor at the University of Delaware, where he established the university's creative writing program. He published numerous poetry collections and was known for his traditional and lyrical style. Hillyer received several prestigious awards throughout his career, including the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry in 1934 for his collection "Collected Verse."
