Jane Seymour Quotes

A collection of quotes by Jane Seymour.

Jane Seymour was an English queen who reigned as the third wife of King Henry VIII. She was born around 1508 in Wulfhall, Wiltshire, England. Little is known about her childhood and upbringing, but it is believed that she was of noble birth and had connections to the English aristocracy.

In 1536, Jane Seymour became lady-in-waiting to Queen Anne Boleyn, the second wife of Henry VIII. During this time, she caught the king's attention, and after Anne's execution on charges of adultery and treason, Jane soon became the queen consort.

Jane Seymour married Henry VIII on May 30, 1536, just eleven days after Anne Boleyn's execution. She was known for her meek and gentle demeanor, which differed greatly from her predecessor. Jane played a significant role in restoring the king's relationship with his estranged daughters, Princess Mary and Princess Elizabeth.

Sadly, Jane Seymour's reign as queen was short-lived. On October 12, 1537, she gave birth to Henry's long-awaited male heir, Edward. However, her health deteriorated rapidly after the difficult childbirth, and she died twelve days later on October 24, 1537.

Jane Seymour was buried with great pomp and ceremony at St. George's Chapel, Windsor Castle. Despite her relatively short time as queen, she left a lasting impact as the mother of Henry VIII's only son, who would later become King Edward VI of England.
